The focus of this touring day is to realize that frequently, there is much more than what you see on the surface of things. Depart Jerusalem and travel along the Jerusalem -Tel Aviv highway where we’ll stop to see various armored vehicles that the Jews used in 1948 to protect themselves from the attacking Arabs. You’ll hear stories about how the Jews almost completely lost Jerusalem! Travel to Rechovot to visit the secret bullet factory at Machon Ayalon. Located on a kibbutz, this factory was built and concealed even from the Kibbutz members themselves, and was used by the Hagana to secretly manufacture 2.25 million bullets for the Jewish underground in Palestine during the years 1945-1948. Also during this day, you'll have an opportunity to participate in an archeological dig at Beit Guvrin where you are guaranteed to finding pottery dating back 2000 years old!! Sometime along the way, we will explore caves used by Bar Kochba fighters 2000 years ago during their rebellion against the Roman rule in Judea. Our last stop will be a brief visit in the Elah Valley to the site of the battle between David and Goliath.
